Product Review: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

Hello world! Sorry for the very late post. Things have been busy and I could not find the time to post but today, I was able to sit down and write a little review for you.

First, I want to talk about the importance of exfoliating. If you don’t exfoliate already, I would suggest you start at least once a week, building up to two times a week.

Why should I exfoliate?

After 28 days, our skin’s outer layer (the epidermis) sheds excess dead skin cells, revealing new skin. Although it sheds every 28 days, there will always be lots of dead skin cells left over that have not been able to properly shed, which build up overtime, causing clogged pores and accentuating any fine lines or wrinkles (the buildup of dead skin makes the lines and wrinkles look deeper than they actually do). Exfoliating your skin will help remove all of the excess buildup, allowing better product absorption (serums, etc), and help diminish the appearance of deep wrinkles and fine lines. Other than that, exfoliating will also reveal a brighter and smoother complexion.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

Now that we know why we should exfoliate, I want to talk about Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant. This is a rice-based enzyme powder that contains key ingredients like licorice, rice bran, rice extract, and grapefruit which help brighten and even skin tone.

The rice bran is also what provides that physical exfoliant (grainy texture) that is gentle on the skin. This product also contains papain and salicylic acid which are responsible for dissolving excess surface cells and getting deep inside the pores.

This product has been instructed as safe for daily use, but to be honest, I don’t think it is necessary to use this every day. Like I said before, 1-2 times a week should suffice.

This product comes in a powder form, and it is safe for all skin types/conditions. Dispense half a teaspoon of this product onto wet hands and massage gently on your skin for two minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. This product is perfect to use in the shower, as long as you don’t get water inside the container (this will ruin the powder and you won’t be able to use it anymore). Keep it on a dry area of the shower where water cannot reach it. The reason it is perfect for the shower is because this product can get quite messy as it is a powder, and if you don’t rinse it off properly, you would be left with a few grains on your skin. Using it in the shower ensures that all of the product comes off.

I love using this exfoliant! My skin always feels so much smoother, and looks brighter and healthier. If you haven’t tried this product yet, I suggest getting a sample of it from a spa that carries it. Eccotique carries Dermalogica, as well as Sephora now. Get a sample and try it at home!

Always remember after using this product, to follow it up with toner, serum, moisturizer and eye cream.
