The Beginning of My Yoga Journey

For those who know me personally, you'll know that I try to exercise regularly but fail to do so on more than one occasion. I used to work out and exercise regularly two years ago but lately it seems like I can't be consistent for more than a week. There is one thing that I have started that I surprisingly found myself committed to, and that is yoga. To be honest, I don't know a thing about yoga. I don't know the different types of yoga, or what exactly is the main benefit of yoga but I wanted to do it mainly for the purpose of toning my body, flexibility, and relaxation. I at least know that yoga can provide those benefits.
So yes I have started yoga. I am currently watching an instructor on YouTube for the meantime and so far I'm loving it. I haven't taken any pictures yet of the poses and moves that I have been practicing, but I will soon and I'll continue to post updates here. I'm excited to see how my body changes with yoga and how flexible I can get. The relaxation part I'm already experiencing. Whenever I feel anxious and I do a yoga session, I instantly feel better after... calm, peaceful, and relaxed.
So why post it?
I want to hold myself accountable and make sure I stick to what I said I was going to do. Also, by posting updates I'll be able to see the progress I have made and see the milestones I hit! It would make me so excited and motivate me to continue on this journey. Maybe this is the way for me to get used to a fitness schedule and to be able to start committing to other exercises. As a future Esthetician, I want to be healthy not only on the surface of my skin, but inside as well. I feel like yoga will also encourage me to eat healthier and to live a healthier lifestyle, and I would want to promote a healthy and happy living to my future clients. I'm also curious if there are any benefits yoga can have on my skin (circulation, etc).
I'll continue to do more research and educate myself on what yoga is and hopefully I can share what I learn here! I know that for a lot of people, yoga is a lifestyle and a more spiritual journey for them so I apologize if this all sounds too casual. I still have more to learn for sure. If there are any yogis reading this, if you have any tips and advice for a beginner like me, I would really appreciate your input! I'm so excited about all of this!
Thank you for reading! Have an awesome day/night, wherever you are.
